Synagogue
La communauté de MONACO est installée en Principauté depuis plus de 70 ans.
Elle est composée majoritairement de sépharades (marocains, libanais) et d’ashkénazes (anglophones).
La nouvelle synagogue a été construite à l’emplacement même de la villa ESMERALDA acquise grâce à la contribution majeure de Jacques MIMRAN (ZL).
Ce nouveau projet a été initié par Mme Lily SAFRA en souvenir de son époux M. EDMOND J. SAFRA (ZL).
Elle a mandaté l’architecte Thierry DESPONT pour reproduire la Synagogue SAFRA de New York.
La Synagogue Edmond J. SAFRA a été inaugurée le 28 mars 2017, en présence de Son Altesse Sérénissime le Prince Souverain ALBERT II de MONACO.
Elle est recouverte entièrement de pierres de Jérusalem. Le centre communautaire s’étend sur 5 étages incluant le MIKVE Doria avec son salon, la cuisine avec sa salle de réception, les bureaux, la synagogue pour les offices quotidiens et la Grande Synagogue.

Ashkenazi (English-speaking).
The new synagogue was built on the very site of the villa
ESMERALDA acquired thanks to the major contribution of Jacques MIMRAN (ZL).
This new project was initiated by Mrs. Lily SAFRA in memory of her husband Mr. EDMOND J. SAFRA (ZL).
It commissioned the architect Thierry DESPONT to reproduce the SAFRA Synagogue in New York.
The Edmond J. SAFRA Synagogue was inaugurated on March 28, 2017, in the presence of
His Serene Highness the Sovereign Prince ALBERT II of MONACO.
It is covered entirely with Jerusalem stones. The community centre extends over 5 floors including the MIKVE Doria, the kitchen with its dining room reception, offices, synagogue for daily services and the Great Synagogue.
Mr. Edmond J. Safra was one of the most accomplished bankers of the 20th century, having established an unparalleled reputation for financial acumen and trust. Scion of a respected Aleppo family whose roots in banking began during the age of the Ottoman Empire, Edmond Safra used his considerable talents to build a business that spanned more than thirty countries across the globe.

Issu d’une famille respectée d’Alep dont les racines bancaires remontent à l’époque de l’Empire ottoman, Edmond Safra a mis à profit ses talents considérables pour bâtir une entreprise qui s’étend sur plus de trente pays à travers le monde.
